Institutional Advocacy – Public Policy Initiatives

Life Span staff provide training to professionals who work with victims of domestic and sexual violence to ensure the responsive and appropriate delivery of public services to battered women, survivors of sexual assault, and their children by the medical community, criminal justice system, law enforcement, educators, and social service providers.

  • Life Span provides education on domestic and sexual violence to lawyers, hospitals, school professionals and other service providers.
  • Advocacy and consultation regarding public and institutional policies that impact victims of domestic and sexual violence are also provided.
  • Our Police Domestic Violence Program is nationally recognized for its groundbreaking efforts to end the code of silence surrounding the special circumstances these victims face.
  • Our Sexual Assault Project provides outreach and education within the sexual assault service community regarding the Civil No Contact Order remedy for victims of non-intimate partner sexual violence.

Life Span Community Involvement

Advocacy on the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault is provided by members of our staff, board, and volunteers. We speak before civic groups, businesses, religious institutions, and schools. This service is provided to reduce the community’s acceptance and tolerance of domestic violence and sexual assault, and to increase the overall community awareness of the prevalence and detrimental nature of these crimes.

Please Contact Life Span if you are interested in requesting a speaker or would like to schedule a training. Call us at 312-408-1210.
